What is a cataract?
Cataract is a clouding of the transparent lens of the eye, which could be compared to a foggy window, causing a decrease in visual acuity to its complete loss.

The amount and types of lens clouding can vary. If the clouding has formed further from the center of the lens, a person may not notice the presence of a cataract.

The only way to detect cataracts in time is regular check-ups with an eye doctor, especially for people over the age of 45. Only an eye doctor can determine what is the cause of vision loss - cataract or some other disease, as well as determine the need for cataract surgery.
State-paid cataract surgeries are provided in our clinic.

Lens selection
During cataract surgery, lens selection is one of the most important decisions that directly affects the patient’s quality of vision after surgery. Lens selection significantly determines the visual outcome and patient satisfaction. It is not just a technical procedure – it is a personalized choice that must be made in close collaboration with the eye surgeon, taking into account both clinical indicators and the patient’s wishes and lifestyle.

Why is lens selection important?

  • It is the quality of vision after surgery:

The goal of cataract surgery is to restore transparency in the eye’s optical system by replacing the cloudy natural lens with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). The optical properties of the IOL (e.g., strength, design, material) determine how well the patient will see near, far, or intermediate distances without glasses.

  • It is an improvement in quality of life:

A properly selected lens can reduce dependence on glasses, improve contrast, reduce glare, and halo effects seen at night. This significantly improves quality of life, especially for active patients.
